About
The Auburn Public Library is located about 19 miles south of the state capital of Springfield. We serve a small community of approximately 4,826. The city of Auburn dates back to 1835 and the library itself has roots going back as far as 1932. We became an official municipal library on May 3, 1943 when the Auburn City Council passed an ordinance establishing a Free Public Library and Reading Room.
At the Auburn Public Library, our mission is to provide access to materials, services, and technology that meets the educational, cultural, and recreational needs of our patrons. Our goal is to promote life-long learning, literacy, and community enrichment.
